besan (gram) flour- 100g
turmeric powder- ½ tsp
red chilli powder- ½ tsp
baking soda- ½ tsp
asafetida- a pinch
salt- to taste
carrot grated- 1 each
onion chopped- 1/2 each
coriander leaves chopped- 1 tsp
water – as required
ghee or vegetable oil- to smear


1.Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well, pour adequate amount for water to make a thick batter. Rest the mixture for 2-3 minutes.
2.In the mean while heat a griddle over medium heat. Smear with ghee or oil and ladle a small portion to check if the temperature of the griddle.
3.Ladle 3-5 inch round of the batter and flip once golden. Cook on both side and serve.

Serve along with spicy Gujarati garlic pickle or green chutney...
